Every Catholic school dance and church youth group in America has some version of this line: couples dancing too close would be told to "leave room for Jesus," or in the six-inch-gap variant, "leave room for the Holy Spirit." It's affectionate scolding, and it worked precisely because it made everyone laugh while they stepped apart.
