What is the Rice Purity Test?
The Rice Purity Test is a 100-question self-survey that students use to reflect on their life experiences — romance, partying, and the occasional brush with trouble. You start with a perfect 100 and lose one point for every experience you can honestly check off, so a lower score means a more eventful story so far. It’s a game, not a grade.
Despite what most copycat sites claim, it wasn’t invented in one tidy year. Rice University students and alumni describe it as a paper tradition that was already circulating on photocopied handouts in the 1980s — long before any website existed. Read the real story on our about page.
