on the Rice Purity Test?
A hickey, or love bite, is the small bruise left when someone kisses the skin hard enough to leave a mark — classically on the neck. The test asks whether you’ve “given or received” one.

The bruise with a reputation
Medically it's nothing exotic: suction breaks tiny capillaries under the skin and you get a bruise, which fades in a week or two like any other. Socially it's a broadcast. That's why the test asks about it, and why an entire folk industry of concealment exists: scarves in September, concealer tutorials, the classic "curling iron accident" excuse nobody has ever believed.
It sits early in the test because it's common and mild, but it's a marker item: a hickey means things got enthusiastic enough to leave evidence, and someone at breakfast noticed. Give or receive counts the same. The test is fair like that.
